Why Choose a MINI Electric?

When Mr Smyth made a New Year’s resolution to explore EV options in early 2023, it was no surprise that his search led him to us. He described how he discovered the MINI Electric:

"It was 'sort-of' inevitable that we found ourselves in Bavarian MINI to discuss MINI’s first EV and view their latest version, which turned out to be a somewhat unique presentation of the current model with a perfect specification for our needs."

"Buying our first MINI Electric was a decision we never once regretted, and that car was the perfect way to experience living with an electric vehicle as our daily driver. What MINI has managed to achieve with the first and second-generation EVs is commendable—maintaining and enhancing the MINI experience whilst improving performance and specification.

Whilst there are some excellent electric vehicles available today, many suffer from the additional weight of the battery pack and simply are just not as much fun to drive or as easy to maneuver. If you value maneuverability, it has to be the MINI Electric."

"The 2nd Generation with a larger battery has improved matters dramatically. Of course, one must allow for the reduction in range during winter months, but we find it simple to plug in the home charger as and when required. It’s a pleasure not visiting petrol stations, but it’s essential to have a home charger installed to realise the full benefits."

Why Switch to a MINI Electric?

We understand that switching to electric can feel like a big step, which is why we encourage our customers to explore their options. Mr Smyth offers some excellent advice to anyone considering making the switch:

"Don’t hesitate to explore options but consider everything fully before visiting a dealership - daily mileage, frequency of longer journeys, charging points and home-charger options, type of vehicle to meet a family’s needs. Don’t buy a tank unless your journeys are hostile! Right-sizing the car is important.

Whilst EVs are currently slightly more expensive than their ICE cousins, the running costs and maintenance are considerably lower, which will compensate in the near term. EVs are also much easier to drive than conventional vehicles, which should take a lot of stress out of the daily commute and make journeys more enjoyable."
